Suzie Snook Memorial Bursary

Suzie with beloved daughter, Maddie
In memory of volunteer Suzie Snook RSLGHA annually awards a $500 bursary to be used toward post-secondary education.

Eligibility is extended to either players or former players who have played a minimum of two seasons with RSL and who have been accepted/enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution.

Applications are called for in early spring and submissions take the form of a 500-word essay written by the candidate and a letter of recommendation from a member of the community.  Once collated by VP Admin these are then reviewed and assessed by a panel of RSL members, past and present.

Based on whoever best represents the values that Suzie imparted on players during the years that she volunteered with RSL, a recipient for the award is then chosen by the panel. These values are:
  • Balance of academics and athletics
  • Fair play
  • Hard work
  • Compassion for others
  • Interest in creative arts
